Was I ready for Canterbury?

Went to Canterbury for a sports event catered for the Malaysian students in New Zealand. The event itself was uneventful, bad referees, bad food, bad management and alot of pretentious chicks and pricks (myself included).

I expected all that but what I did not expect was to have one of the best times I have ever had. Something to put in my memory box and take out when I have kids. Events and friends that I have made and hope to keep in the years to come. However, come to think of it even if we end hating each others guts or this would be the last time I ever saw them. I would still hold on to this memories like a treasured blanket. Tuck away far in the closet to be forgotten only to be joyfully reclaimed when I find it.

This is the first time I have been on a road trip without family and partner. Just the girls having a good time. Before I start my bombardment of photos I have to say that Bersatu sucked. Only because we got bronze for netball. The match with Otago was the worse. I am a sore loser. There we were, my shooter got pushed by the keeper so the referee awarded her a free shot. This was the goal that would stabilize the game and earn us over time. As Zaf was shooting the other stupid referee whistled that time has finished just as Zaf's ball went into the hoop. They didn't take that goal into account and we lost the game. Just like that. I went to complain and tried to weasel at least another 2 minute game. Cannot. The frustration I felt...then the team captain tells my players that we were the best team they've ever played.

I wanted to cry. I wanted to cry because I wanted to hit her smug, pretentious face in. I also wanted to cry because it wasn't fair. But all in all this has taught me that yet again Bersatu referees fucked up.

Anyhoo, moving into less bitter and angry moments of my life. PICTURES!

This was when we first arrived and there was nothing to do so we
visited the Cathedral. By the way you'll see alot of Pei Lynn.

The next day Shermayne and Ying Swan arrived. We waited in the freezing cold for them for 2 hours. Now that is what I call sisterly love.
Went sight seeing around the city. Might a well make the most of our tourist privileges.
This is called "when love comes a calling"
We went to visit the fudge factory. Literally an all you can eat affair. I got sick after the third bite. But Pei Lyn, Swan and Shermayne kept on going! Fudgeaholics!

HOW TO MAKE FUDGE BARS
  1. boil fudge in very very very hot temperature
  2. add 5 kg of sugar
  3. stir like there is no tomorrow
  4. when it looks all gooey and yucky take it out from the mixer and prepare to put it on the table
  5. ask mate to help you and start pouring
  6. spread it around and spread it even
  7. then get some wacky chicks to taste it while its all hot and gooey.
  8. There, didn't you just waste a minute of your life reading this crap?

After the girls were all fudgified we went for a walk again in the city bought my VERY CHEAP boots and waited for Pei Lynn in Starbucks as she yakked away with her friend.

This was early morning the next day. We went on the gondola and didn't see anything due to the bad weather. Pei Lynn calls it 'Heaven'. *whatever. Funny part was me and Shermayne trying to swing the gondola to see how green Pei Lynn could go.

This is Pei Lyn's very bad photo taking skills.
After the really bad gondola ride and not so bad 3d ride we went for a walk in the heavy rain and strong winds. There wasn't much else to do.

After the fantastic walk...(we didn't even make it half way when everyone voted me out and scrambled back to shelter) We went on a cruise to see dolphins. Of course with the weather all we saw was some big ass sea birds, hills and views of each other and how terrible we looked wet. The picture above is the new navy war ship that dock a day before in Lyttleton port and her name is Canterbury.

No dolphins only wet females and not even in the biblical sense.

This is cool. Many many million years ago the whole of New Zealand was that colour of red due to the volcanoes that erupted violently and consistently to shape New Zealand to what it is today.

The Days of the Games.

Before we knew it the games were here. We really know how to pose. It's amazing.

Netball
Netball was so good this year. Only because the players were set the standard high this year. Big kudos goes to Zaf who continued on shooting for the team even after she fractured her wrist (we didn't know how bad it was until she went to see the doctor). GO ZAF!
Big kudos to the whole team actually for trying their best to even up the scores. None of them gave up. Well even if there were they didn't show it.
I can still hear Wei En screaming BACK! BACK! BACK!

A big thank you to the supporters. I really think they help us win in the final match.

Soccer boys.It was exciting to watch them play. Sadly, they weren't able to get into the top 3.

Bowling.

I was in the bowling team. I almost bailed out because I wanted my tam to win so badly that I arranged to get one of my friend to take over as she had a better score. Lol but with my team mate Eric I shouldn't have bothered. He single handedly piggyback us to victory with his 240 average score. Malaysian and New Zealand representative yo!

Prize giving ceremony. As I type this I have come to realise that the trip was alot of fun because of this group of people. All the bitching, whining, bonding and all that jazz. Loved it.

MT HUTT HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As if almost breaking my knee and falling flat on my face on the cement floor while playing netball was not enough. Me, Pei Lyn, Siew Aun and Bron (who came down from Auckland) went snowboarding! Well tried to. Our first trip to the mountains was cancelled due to bad weather so we drove about two hours from the city to Arthurs Pass. Well almost to Arthurs Pass. Had to stop 15 minutes from destination cause we were afraid that the weather would get worse and we would be forced to stay the night in some unknown town.
Halfway there we stop to take photos because the snow were falling so prettily.

The guys learning how to put on the chains cause the roads were covered in ice. Siew Aun and Bron manage to do it in record time even faster than the locals. lol They had a time limit maximum 5 minutes per tyre or their fingers would drop off from the cold. Me and Pei Lynn did nothing more than cheer for them when they were done. Now that is what you call MORAL SUPPORT.

Snow!

It was weird, first we were covered up to our ears with snow and then twenty minutes later no more snow.

We got lucky on our last day in Canterbury. Weather was beautiful and I finally got the hang of snowboarding. Unfortunately not much photos up at the mountains we were to afraid we would crash land on the camera as we snowboard. There were a couple of funny incidents like where Bron kept crashing, Siew Aun's nose was perpetually dripping, Nik getting frustrated whenever he fell and Pei Lynn not moving even when she was on a steep slope. She's a natural boarder I tell you. And me? Well I fell laughing and when I fell I think I broke my ribs cause I can't stand straight, sneeze, laugh or cough anymore. I had THAT much fun. lol

Goodbye Canterbury. Good times.

Death by chocolate

Ladies,

Tonight is the night that I finally say no to chocolate and YES to exercise...

I just saw a box of tim tams under my table.

OK! After the box of tim tams is the time I say no to chocolate and YES to exercise!

We have to start somewhere

Gold Flakes, Sake but no cock tales to tell

The boys bought a bottle fo sake that had gold flakes it them! That's what I call a rich man's drink. The Japs I tell you will do anything for anything.

Beer doesn't do very much for my complexion. The guy suffocating in the photo is another bored KLite here in good ole New Zealand.

I have no recollection whatsoever of taking this photo!

But I definitely remember taking this one.

Nothing much has been going on in my life. Just in case you didn't know I have already found a job. Many thanks to Jonno(who never replies his smses) for giving me a lead or two. Work has been really busy (as my friends can tell you cause I moan to them about it every minute I can). I learn new things every day and try to not make mistakes as it cost thousands of dollars to fix My skin looks terrible and I don't know if it's because of work or because I have started to drink milk again. I get terrible indigestion when I drink milk. As you can see I have run out things to say already and this must obviously mean I should just stop and press the enter button now.

Where are you now?

I can't believe that time passes so fast. I remember when I was 8 and thinking that school should finish faster and not crawl by so slowly so I can go play 'getah' with the girls at the school parking lot.

I remember when I was in high school and wished that time would pass faster so I can go ber dating and go for sports practice instead of being coop up in class learning maths from an ugly teacher.

I remember when I was 17 and wishing that time would pass faster so I could go clubbing with my friends without my parents nagging to me about it.

I remember wishing time would zoom by when I was 20 so that I could officially feel 'grown up' at 21.

And now here I am in New Zealand, with a second family, stronger self, different attitude, friends whom I am proud to call my own and  a hairstyle that I am finally happy with. Now I feel that time is passing by too quickly. I can only see the days pass by only in weeks, and when I think it's the end of June today, it's actually the start of August already.

Where am I now in this time and frame? I am happy, more confident, always learning, still a snob, proud, stubborn, materialistic, pessimistic, bossy, spoiled.....where is all the good stuff about me???

*chuckles I'm all that and am finally very comfortable in my own skin. I don't know where I'll be in 5 years time and that's not such a bad thing when days flashes by and weeks disappear into months that dissolves into years.

Speaking of years, we are  having some pretty wacky weather this year aren't we? I mean aren't we suppose to be in the middle of winter? It feels like late spring to me with the sun shining and the occasional afternoon showers. Well, not lets forget the mini typhoon we had a few weeks ago where several motorist flew off from the bikes as they were traveling back home at the north shore. Imagine that, you in the car trying to control your car under the strong wind conditions and there you see a man flying past you as his bike crashes into the divider.

Who is going to the ball? Wanna be my date? I'm still thinking the pros and cons of going to the ball. The number one con is that I have already been to an UMSA ball and I don't think it would be much different. One of the pros would be that some of my girlfriends will be making an ass of themselves on stage and I shouldnt miss it. However, having said that they are already making an ass of themselves everytime I see them so maybe it ain't that much of a big deal *chuckles.

Wow, verbal diarhhea today and it really is the shits (this pun was done on purpose) as everything I have written up to now has all been absolutely crap...not that I am wanting to win the NOBEL prize for best deep and meaningful, groundbreaking, earth shattering (you get the gist) blog entry the world, NAY! the UNIVERSE has ever seen!!!.

So yeah after entertaining myself for the last 5 secs typing out that crap I have fonally decided that Caesar is waitng for me to conquer the EAST!
