Last night I went with my mum and sis to a wedding. It was my mum's
cousins (Nicola) wedding, she's the youngest in the family and she
was marrying a guy from Ranau. Ranau is about two hours drive
from Kota Kinabalu which is where I am at. Ranau is popular for it's
hot springs and beautiful landscape. It looks like Vietnam with its
paddy fields and Kerbau (buffalo) shit galore strewn all over the roads.
Anyway, the wedding was pretty boring as we were seated with people
I didn't know, well at least me and Ash didn't know them but apparently
one of the man in that table was one of my mum's uncle. Beside my table
was the grooms family members and when the bride and groom
finished going around to toast with everyone they left immediately.
Shucks, they could have at least waited for the bride and groom to
stand by the entrance to greet them out. It's a custom for the bride
and groom to stand at the entrance with their respective parents and
greeet guest as they come in. The same thing is then repeated when the
festivities are over.
I like the toasting part where the bride and groom visit each table
with a glass of wine or liquor and everyone at that table start
screaming YaaaaaaaaaaAAAmmMMMMMM SEEEeeeeNNNNNNgggg! Yam Seng is
something like Salut to the French. So yes, it is a matter of pride to
see which table can scream and prolong that word the most. All I can
say is no one was the winner cause alot of them cheated (including my
table).

ON a very very random note: I am proud to say that
granny underwear are a life saver! They make your tummy and tush oh so
deliciously small! I totally recommend it to all the body concious
women and MEN out there. I would take a picture of my undies but then
again I don't think many would appreciate that. So yes, imagine it
my friends, big granny underwear...it is not sexy but hell it makes you
look SEXY!
Till Then
A usual Malaysian breakfast (actually this is a pretty stingy persons breakfast).
In Malaysia, there is ussually fried noodles, fried rice,
assorted side dishes and beautiful coloured cakes for breakfast. This
version is my "I'm on diet so I'm starving breakfast". Suprisingly, it
was still very filling.
Tou Fuh Fa *edited* (Sweet Tofu) This is good, one of my
favourites and one of the delicacies here in Malaysia. Those not from
Malaysia can only find this in those big (highly overpriced) chinese
restaurants or if your lucky in your nearest Chinatown. It is made out
of soft white tofu (made by hand) and drank with sugar water. You can
actually reboil the sugar and add very teeny weeny slices of ginger to
set a sharp tang to the taste and smell of the Tou Fuh Fa
*edited*. Cost RM 1.
I actually remembered the name of this kuih (cake) but
I have now totally forgot it. So we shall call this Kuih Bakar (Burned
cake) it is very popular as a breakfast side dish and it is ussually
eaten with porridge (or in my case the Yong Tau Fu). This has the feel
of toast bread but is soft and spongy and has the taste of cinnamon in
it. However, it has a confusing mix of salty and sweet. I am actually
wondering how they make this because the black spiral on top of this
bun actually colours the inside of the bun. The ones that are sold
in New Zealand have sesame seed sprinkled on top and have a hollow
inside. Cost 0.50.
So cheap and it all cost me RM 1.50 (roughly 0.70 cents
New Zealand). Malaysian food has a combustion of taste in them no
matter how small it is there is always a fusion of taste waiting to
assail your taste buds. This is simply because Malaysians are not
afraid of spices and use them with a heavy hand. The bad thing about
this is that most dishes are either too hot, too sweet, too salty or
too spicy but you can be rest assured it can never be bland. However,
come to think of it only the soups here have no taste in it. I wonder
why?
Till Then,
It was annouced today that the 54th Miss World for 2004 was won by the beautiful Miss Peru. First Runner Up went to Dominican Republic and Second Runner Up went to USA.
Personally, I think Miss USA should have won because she was spontaneous and very eloquent. She also had a smile that was infectious as it was beautiful. On the other hand Miss Peru is a lovely person she seemed very humble (but also very nervous) unable to master english her brief Q&A was dissapointing to say the least but then again one should give her the benefit of the doubt and state that it is not the language that proves ones worth. I think she will be magnificent in her one year reign. (cliche inserted here) However, only time will tell. Pictures are courtesy of www.missworld.tv

Miss Peru
Maria Julia Mantilla Garcia (Gosh that was a mouthful)
She was very popular from the very begining as she had the most cheers when she first made her appearance.

Miss Dominican Republic
Claudia Julissa Cruz Rodriguez (another one mouthful)
Only 18 years old, she's quite the stunner.
There is a certain look about her that says 'regal'
especially when she doesn't smile.

Miss USA (my favourite)
Nancy Rand
She was very graceful and the most 'natural' of the 5 finalist.
She also won Miss World Beach (swimwear, if I am not mistaken)
I truly wanted her to win. Alas, it was not meant to be.

A portrait of our very own Miss Malaysia
Gloria Mei Ru Ting
The whole point of me catching the Miss World was to catch a glimpse
of her performing, sadly she wasn't given much air time.
Y'all must check the website as there are tons of photos of these beautiful ladies in gowns and swim wear. I enjoyed the show very much especially when they had a break and this dance was performed called the 10,000 or was it 1,000 hand Golden Buddha dance. It was magical I tell ya, just pure magic.
I am heading off for KL tommorow for a jaunt with my family and to clear up some stuff. I hope you guys are enjoing your weekend as much as I am enjoying it.
Till Then,
P/s YES I CAN POST PICTURES!!! Woo hoo
I asked my muslim friend Ain why Hari Raya (a religious festival for Muslims) is celebrated and she said that :
To my own understanding, it's the day where muslims celebrate the end of ramadhan (fasting month) and the beginning of syawal. historically um... if im not mistaken, the muslims won a war against I forgot who, which they fought for a whole month. and during that month of war they did not eat and drink before sunset and the 1st day of syawal is the day they won that war. also known as Hari Kemenangan (Day of Victory) la something like that. So muslims worldwide celebrate it.
So, yups there you go a brief and short explaination about Hari Raya. However, I am sure many of my friends out there would like to reiterate this statement, I cannot wait for you guys to tell me what Hari Raya means to you.
Thank you Ain for taking the time to answer my question. ( Ain is now studying in Russia studying hard to be a doctor and of course will give me free medical check ups when she has graduated
)
I am now doing some last minute packing and then I'm off to breakfast and then to the airport. Hopefully, I'll be able to update in Kuala Lumpur. You know when you translate Kuala Lumpur to English it directly means Capital Mud. Hmmmm, I wonder why? Will find out soon enough!
Till Then
p/s Have a wonderful Sunday!
I am back! The trip back from KL was horrendous we went to the airport at 1.30pm but only took off at six due to 'technical' problems. Besides the long wait the trip was not that bad except for the occasional drizzle and lightning that illuminated the sky.
Let see:
Day 1
I met an old high school friend name Dayang at Airasia airport and coincidently she was also going to Kuala Lumpur. So my trip to KL was pleasant and the two hour long flight was filled with gossip and both of us reminiscing about the past. She told me she was going to KL to continue her studies in Computer Science after taking a break from Uni to celebrate Raya with her family. It was a good thing bumping into her.
When we arrived at KLIA me and my mum hop onto an Express train which took just 28 minutes to arrive at KL Sentral. If I had taken a taxi it could have easily taken an hour and a half to reach the city. Denappa came to pick me up with her new boyfriend Denny. Denny is a sweet guy with a cheeky attidude and he looks a little bit Japanese with his small eyes and short pony tail. I thought I would have ample time to hang out with them during my stay in KL unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances I didn't hang out with them much on this trip. Anyhoo, they kindly sent us to Shangri-La hotel . It was good to see Denappa last I heard she wasn't doing too well in the love department so it was good to see her being treated so well by Denny.
After they drop us at the hotel we were suppose to meet up for dinner but they couldn't make it and this was the beggining of many fong fei kei sessions. Oh well.
So it was just me and my mum and we headed off to Bukit Bintang a famous place to shop and eat in KL. After a brief jaunt we headed back to the hotel exhausted.
Day Two:
Day two was spent in KLCC which is situated inside the famous Petronas Twin Towers which has become Malaysias signature building. The place is huge and all the shops there are full of luxury boutiques and designer brand stuff. It's a bad place to shop but a heavenly place to daydream the favourite dream of 'If I was rich I would get that...'
In the middle of the shopping mall was this gigantic many many feet ( heh I didn't ge to find out how tall it actually was) Christmas tree it reached all six floors of the mall and then some! My most favourite place in KLCC would have to be KINOKIYA (or something like that) a big BIG GIGANTIC book store filled with a wide selection of books. I was in bliss.
DAY 3:
Tuesday was spent idling in the room before heading once more to Bukit Bintang where me and my mum (mostly mum) searched for a Karaoke version of James Browns song 'I feel good' and the Eagles rendition of 'Promise to come home for christmas'. We failed in that attempt but we made it up in shopping for other goodies. Me and my mum tried on many many clothes before we decided on what to buy. It was fun going out with my mum and chatting /bitching with her during the whole trip. Again went back to the hotel room exhausted.
While mum was resting in the room I went out with Justin to Alexis for dinner. It's situated in Bangsar and the restaurant has a very relaxing ambience. Bangsar is very popular among the locals as a hang out place which serves cheap and delicious food and drinks. Beside the road stalls are fancy restaurant and bars its not a bad place but I pity the residents staying around that area as I don't know how they can cope with all the noise and having people double park their car in front of their drive way.
So yes, dinner at Alexis was good and I manage to catch up with Justin which was good fun. I met Justin when I was dating my first boyfriend and Justin was dating a singer who was also a friend of ours. We got to know each other when he came down to visit his girlfriend and we hung out with each other during his stay here in Sabah. Justin was funny and heartbreakingly sad at the same time. He's going through a rough time but I admire the way he handles his situation. However, he is a bit dissillusioned and I don't know how to stop that from happening. Hmm....did I tell you that his ex is now dating my ex or so the rumor mills go?
heh
After dinner we headed off to La Bodega for a drink but it was packed so we went back to Alexis as there was a bar above the restaurant. It was empty but I like it that way as we got to talk more mostly about love, love, love, and how sucky it is! Well for him that is as I am happily and blissfully in love at this moment so all I could do was listen to Justin rant which seem to have been pent up for a pretty long time.
After an hour we went to pick up Henry (a friend I met through Justin two years ago) and headed back to the hotel and sat in the lounge listening to a pretty darn good Filipino band. Again we talked about relationships and long distance and love. It has been deduced that long distance will not last as attested by this men. They tried their damndest to make it work and their loyalty and faithfulness has led to naught but heartache and dissilussionment. I felt so sad and depressed to hear them more so when they warned me that if I left New Zealand and stayed in KL I could kiss my relationship goodbye. Oh dear, I was speechless here I was a twenty year old hearing this two grown men rant about their love lifes and how they will change themselves to be more like assholes instead of being the perfect gentlemen that they are. I can attest to this that they are indeed gentlemen ot the highest degree. They would not hear my protest of ' how they are a dying breed and that they should just try to stick through this hard times cause I am sure that the right one will come' all they did was smile and shake their heads at me. Oh Dear.
We said our goodbyes at 2.30am.
Day 4:
Woke up early and went to the doctor for my DNA test. Long story. After that went sightseeing with my mum while my dad went back to the office. We didn't go to much places as we had to get back to the hotel before 6pm cause we had dinner with my dads boss and family.
My dads employer is filthy rich, on a good day that man is worth 2 billion pounds. We had dinner in the hotel, a Japanese Restaurant. We were seated in this beautiful glass room with a whole wall filled with wines collected from all over the world. Another wall was filled with cigars, many many boxes of them! I was introduced to the big mans daughter who was pale and sickly looking but very very elegant she had this tight fitting black jacket on with tight black slacks and nasty (short for very sexy) black heels. She didn't smile back when I smiled at her and I thought I had crush her hand when we shook hands she was so fragile looking. I thought her to be very very strange.
The wife and son were late so we proceeded to order first. The girl ordered so many dishes that the father had to stop her but when the food arived she hardly touch the food. Then her mother and brother arrived and I was introduced to them and so the polite chit chat began. The mother was nice and elegant (rich) looking but had very sharp eyes. Her son was tall and very fair he looked a bit like a foreigner with his sharp angular nose and an autocratic air about him. But he was a nice sort of fellow. Now the boss loved to drink wine and after plying himself with many glasses of it he began to rant about how useless his kids were and his wife looked so dissaproving her eyes nearly dissapeared, the daughter stared into space and the son kept quiet. It was very uncomfortable so I started talking to him and he is indeed very prim and proper. He was sent to boarding school in Leeds when he was nine (I think) and then continued on till University where he studied Economics we both found out that we both knew people who were his good friends but were only acquaintances to me. I liked him but I would have liked him more if he wasn't so....stuffy? Anyhoo, thankfully dinner was soon over and we said our goodbyes, I flashed a 100 megawatt smile to the girl and she sort of smiled, well I say sort off cause I could see she was making an effort to smile back but it looked like it took a lot of effort. Thinking back to that night I kind of wish I was sitted next to her it would have beeen nice to talk to her. Oh well.
Day 5
Woke up at ten, ate breakfast and then headed off to the airport to fly back home. Home sweet home
You read on till here? BRAVO! I hope it was worth it!

A night view of Bukit Bintang

KLCC with it's GIGANTIC Christmas Tree

So many clothes to try!

A dress by Melinda Looi.
Someone much thinner than me would have looked divine in this dress
Unfortunately, it made me look pregnant.

After many hours we manage to board the train only to have the take off delayed
due to bad weather

A glimpse of the sun setting
Till Then
It's 12.55 am Malaysian time. Good morning and good night.
Another 12 days to Christmas have you bought your gifts already? I have! Ho ho ho I spent my whole year in ffice:smarttags" />
Another thing about
Aiyah, in
he he he
If my mother and cousins read this I'll be done for!
Disclaimer (to save my hide) this is all true because it is DUE to MY experience :P
Aiyah
HO HO HO!!
Till Then,
p/s It's a wonder when you have nothing to write about but when you begin to write the words seem to flow out to the screen...ah the gift of being an absurd bullshiter! I tell you don't PLAY-PLAY with me!
Muaks!
Tonight has been such a shocker! So many casualties and drama!!
I went out with my brother and cousin to celebrate my beautiful cousins birthday at a club called The Beach. (The band is very good) When I arrived I was introduced to my cousins friends and they were very nice people I met Sharon, Nora, Rachel and BiBi ( she came later). Rachel was pretty gung ho on the drinking and was asking me to gulp down all my drinks. I was feeling pretty miffed so I played along but I forced her to drink with me.. the end result is that she is now incapacitated in bed. But I can't take all the credit for making her passed out and most of the credit should go to Ideline boyfriend who bought ALL the drinks and made Rachel very very drunk. The killer drink that sealed her doom was a fantastic five tiered flaming lamborghini. Excellent shites! Plus. Alex should be patted on the back cause Rachel kept egging him on so he manage to hold (barely) his drink. Bravo Bro!
he he he
The club was half full but you wouldn't have thought so with all the screaming and laughing that was coming from our table. We laughed loudest (and very hysterically mind you) when the birthday girl cake came out! It was shape like a penis! Pretty disgusting and funny (in a horrifying way). I can tell you we had a blast over that.
The party was going fine untill some of us in the group got too incapacitated and THAT wasn't funny anymore, there was puking action everywhere in the car, pavement, floor and bathroom. Even my male cousin got acquainted with Mr Road by lying on the road and falling asleep while half immersed in puke. I can tell you it was funny for awhile and then we stop laughing when we realised he might be choking on his own vomit. he he he
Funny shites, very funny shites!
We had to send the two girls back as Sharon was also drunk (she didn't make it pass 11 o'clock) she could hardly walk out of the club when we were done with her! We were suppose to party till one but we only lasted till 12am. I think thats good cause everyone had fun and an exciting time and all this before midnight. Plus, on the way on sending the girls (in a convoy of three cars) a car manage to get hit, another car's bumper wrecked making a couple people pissed all this while there were those puking in the car and on the side of the road groaning miserably and I think feeling so wretched they want to die.
It was goodnight, oh did I tell you I manage to meet a disgruntled husband as I was dragging his wife into her bed. Funny shites!
Everyone was such a good sport!
All in all it was a good night, I think I'll do this again next week!

Before pictures,
Me, Sharon, Nora, Ideline and Rachel

The suprise birthday cake (oh dear) complete with pubic hair

The very suprised and 'excited' birthday girl

Fooling around with the togitung (pubic hair) Charlie Chaplin style!
I tried eating it and it doesn't taste good *blech*

Bro is getting there...

Down!
Till then,
