Reflections on the past

Let's see what has been happening in my life recently!

Sub-Football!

We lose the second game 3-0 but won the third game 10-2. So it's all
good. I was a bit pissed on the second game as one of the girls was
screaming at me to get someone else to replace as she had only got in
to the field. This happened when I screamed her name Amieee!!!!!! and
before I could say KICK THEIR ASSS!!! she was screaming her lungs
out to me. Gosh, that deflated my love for my team members. Pfft, girls
who needs em anyway.

Futsal!

Last Sunday was fun with David and Hwei Gin playing with us. It was
cool to see Hwei Gin play as she wasn't as rough as me but she was
pretty persistent (and consistent) with her defence. I miss futsal but
we won't be playing this Sunday as we have *glee* Hwei Lings (Hwei Gin
sister) wedding to go to.

Football!

A pic of  the team before everyone heads back home for Summer. Good times people, good times indeed.

Studying!

Did not manage to study at all. I was the mother of all that is
late. I was the Procrastination Queen even Bronson was AMAZED at my
avoiding skills. I don't know la I'm just such a bad student. It's like
I want to do EVERYTHING but study. However, I did get those panic
attacks which left me breathless and feeling very very very scared.
Yes, scared and I would scurry to my notes read em for an hour and then
feel normal again. I am one weird and very LAZY chick I tell ya!

Exam!

Yesterday I had Maori and it was not as hard as I thought it was.
However, being very superstitious and stupid I am scared to say that I
did well just in case I didn't.

Walking to the place where I ussually met Bron I saw a group of
students sitting on the pavement watching two girls (well I think
they were girls) dancing and wearing a red skirt (Britney style "hit me
baby one more time!) and tight blue collared shirts. One of them had a
cardboard bus on her head with Father Christmas as a decoration and
another one had a cardboard reindeer (albeit bulky) one on her head
covering their faces. They were doing the robot, moon walk and a lot of
moves that resembled someone having a spastic fit... vertically. Behind
them was this ugly Blue van with money covering the windows
and a gigantic inflated killer whale on the top. The music
playing from inside the van sounded like grunge meets techno meets
garage meets.....weirdness??? Individually they suck but together it
was an ensemble that was so grotesquely interesting that I
forgot what I was doing and continued watching the spectacle untill
they finished which was when the girls got into the van and the van
took off skidding across the pavement in to the oncomign traffic. A
chinese dude was asking this chick behind me "what the hell
were they doing?" All she said was..."Art baby thats what you
call Art." Gosh...

Today was Media Comm and all I have to say is LAST MINUTE STUDYING
DOES WONDERS FOR YOU!! I saw the question and I was like "Hey, I can
answer this one!" " OOooooo I know this! I know this!" "YES!" and a
deflated "Ooooppmh!" when I saw that there were more queston
that I didn't know then the questions that I Did know but not too
worry my bull shitting skills came in handy.

Film Premiere!

Nearly all the short films that were showcased this afternoon were
excellent. All the films were made by AUT students. My personal
favourites were:

Love: A beautiful story of a man who killed himself as he couldn't
bear to live without his beloved. It was beautiful and subtly made. I
nearly cried on this one.

Trust: A girl kills herself after her friend accuses her of lying
about the rape she had to endure from her best friends boyfriend.

Life: A hilarious (but seriously arty flick) about a man searching for the meaning of Life.

Passion: A film that I made with my group about an artist trying to seduce the mother of his friend.

Ball Game: A Gay satire about a chick being dumped by the man she loves for a guy. Funny shite!

Wedding (future)

The theme is Medieval and I have my costume all settled the only
problem is Bron hasn't got one yet so we will be scourging the second
hand shops on Sunday morning and maybe secretly sneak out on Saturday
morning. This Sunday will be so much fun!! Pearce is going as
Archilles, Joanne as Helen of Troy, Me as an evil witch ( when I told
Ivy this she said that's easy for me as I don't need to dress
up. Har Har hAr very funny Ivy) Bronson will be going as the male
version of Motoko Aoyama (fans of love hina will know her). Tim is
going as a PS2 character will verify with you when I have the details
Apparently Berlinda and Evon will be going as Peasants..OOOoooOoO this
will be fun! Rumor has it that the bride and groom have bought the services of a couple of medieval knights for the occassion.

I tell ye all knoweth nowth. Thath I ameth feelingth soth exciteth!

Translation: ( I tell y'all now that i am feeling so excited!)

Oh dear, my version of sprouting verses from medieval
times. Please any litearture student out there need not tell me I suck
very badly at this. You don't need to point it out as I know.

Sadly my prose and verbose is not utter perfection!

ka ka ka

Picture of the wedding will definitely be a yes! yes!

Malaysia!

I am going home next Monday (15th) gosh I can't wait. I
think one of the reasons why I didn't really study was because I
was so close to going home that I felt like I was on a
holiday already. he he he (an excuse worth using my friends)

Medieval Wedding

Hwei Ling's wedding was very cool there were men in armor, wenches,
mead and music. What more could a wedding ask for! We arrived at the
destination with two knights standing at the gate giving us
instructions on where to go. Then we were greeted by another knight who
annouced our arrival. There were many beautiful people dressed as
lords, ladies, concubines and such. The place was huge with a big
field, on it was the marquee where the wedding ceremony was to be held.

The wedding ceremony itself was quite a spectacle with
little flower girls with colourful chinese umbrellas coming from the
walkway into the marquee followed by Hwei Giin and Ying Jie and then
the blushing bride, Hwei Ling. Hwei Ling's gown was designed by her
husband Peter and sewn by his mother. It was as Berlinda said quite a
'futuristic' look with an east meets west feeling to the gorgeous
maroon gown. It had gold trimmings and a gold coloured corset with a
slight hump at the back (ala Gone with the wind style). Hwei Ling had
this head gear on which made her look...unique.

After they
exchanged vows they had the tying of the coth ceremony which was
created by Peter. It was a short ceremony where an oriental fabric is
tied to a plaid like fabric to signify the different cultures that were
to unite as a resut of this wedding. When that ceremony ended the newly
wedded couple walked down the aisle only to be met with a knave! The
rogue took Hwei Ling away to the balcony and challenged Peter to a
duel. The bloody rogue cheated and sent two of his minions to fight
Peter! Fortunately, Peter won and went on to fight the man who has
stolen his beloved wife. A heated battle of swords ensued and for a
second there I thought Peter was going to fall to the enemies
sword  when an ingenius Hwei Ling used her shoe to whack the
knight's head thus gave an opporturnity for Peter to strike the final
blow. Suffice to say he slayed the knight and rescued his wife. The end.

 After
that spectacle we proceeded to the table of  tidbits before dinner
was served at 5.30 pm. Although we were hungry we manage to entertain
ourselves with some live entertainment from the ninjas and a kendo
master! Plus, there was a good old fashion choir in the background
consisting of knight and maidens. We left the wedding around 8.00 pm
but before that I managed to dance two authentic medieval dances. The
first one was fun and it had the dancers going around in circles and we
had to quicken our steps to catch up with the music. The music started
out slow and easy but went quite fast that it made me dizzy. The second
dance was somewhat like an olden day waltz. Couples were set into a
line with the Ladies on the right and  Lords on the left. We had
to take  a left step then a little bop, a right step and then a
little bop, three steps to the front and then face your partner and do
a little piroutte. Then move three steps back and repeat the steps
again. For such  an easy dance it was still hard for me to move
because I kept stepping on my skirt.

I enjoyed myself immenselly and what a great way to end my day before I head off to Malaysia.

Home sweet home

10 hour flight

3 Transits

25 cups of orange juice

3 Litres of water

and a whole load of sweets.

I am finally home in Sabah the journey back was ok. The only time I was uncomfortable was during take offs and landings. My imagination always seem to take over and I imagine the wheels not able to come out properly and we end up circling up in the air to use up the fuel before we are forced to do an emergency landing. I sometimes imagine that the engine goes kaput when its in the midst of taking off, you know those sort of thoughts that seem to lurk very close to the surface of my concious mind.

My luggage was 7 kg overweight but the nice man behind the counter took off 5kg and only charged me for the remaining 2 kg which was of course a hefty 53 New Zealand Dollars. GOsh! I needed to bring back some clothes as my closet is too small and cramped to store any of my stuff. SO i ended up packing what I rarely used and unfortunately it was ALOT!

My whole family came to pick me up and it was good to see them untill they opened their mouths and comented on my weight . Sad thing was that was the first thing they said before saying "welcome home" they might have as well said "welcome home fattie".  I do say....family honesty is the best spear to the heart cause you know they mean well and this gives them the excuse to be very brutally, painfully and consistently honest which makes the spear even sharper.

BUT I am glad to be home. Oh yes Sirrah I AM GLAD TO BE HOME! I just have to shower every 5 minutes cause it so hot! HUmid! Ahhh Malaysia, one thing consistent about this place is the weather so unlike New Zeland weather which has the mind of a fickle women. Sunny one minute then rainy then windy then sunny back again all in one hour.

I think I smell Frangipani in the air

Cleaning, dancing and a whole lot of other stuff in Sabah

Here I was experiencing jet lag and an irritating eye tick above my right eye and in front of me was my mum giving me a loving smile with a broom in her other hand. It was a bittersweet feeling that aroused in me. I was glad to be home and at the same time painfully wishing I was back in Auckland. So yes,  my first activity here in the land below the wind was not partying and doing extremely silly things but to clean the spare room downstairs, paint it (well actually my mum was pretty gung ho do to that) and carry all the crap down to the bin and whatever valuable garbage into the store room. Wow, WELCOME HOME TO ME!

he he he

Today was a fruitful day, I went to send the truckload of old newspaper to the recycle shop (my parents lovingly waited for me to do it) and went to get my permanent drivers licence. Ho Ho Ho its not really permanent as I paid RM60 to have a two year license. I wonder why they call it permanent license then?

*my siblings are breathing down my neck wanting to use the computer. I am perserving as it is the STRONGEST and FASTEST who shall earn the right to use the computer!!*

I wanted to do my Identification Card and passport but my dad had to use the car so I ended up at home. I had a lovely phone call with Royline. Holler to ya Ten ten!! So much gossip but so little time she had to leave so I went to read some comic books that my bro got. My recommendation is One Piece which is about a boy called Luffy who dreams to be the King of Pirates. This comic book is also out as an animation I suggest you guys get it. It's one of those rare litearture that makes you laugh out loud and suprises you with its twist and it can actually make you bawl your eyes out at some of the scenes.

I spent the rest of my day dancing with my little sis to b2k, Joe Budden, Timbaland, Britney Spears and Fat Man Scoop. It was good exercise and had tons of fun while I was at it. I love this sort of exercise ;p

Writing this out I feel a little '2nd home sick' I miss Ivy and my football mates and especially Bronson.

Oh well

I gotta go to a wedding later who was one of my aunts ex girlfriend who is her step sister. Complicated ain't it?

Malaysian Wedding

The wedding last night was a great place to meet up with my relatives. I saw my some of my aunts, uncles and cousins. There rest were either at home or in Johor which is the southern most state in Malaysia 'interestingly' enough it is also known as the Southern Gateway of Malaysia . A little Malaysian trivia there for you.

The Bride and Groom flank by the Brides family members

The bride is my mothers' step sister, my grandfather married her mother 8 years ago. It was quite a scandal in the village because my grandfather had twelve kids with his first wife and he was going to marry a widow who had six children. He couldn't take care of his own kids and here he was adopting more to his clan. It was quite a strange and stressful time for everyone. But now everything is much better and time has essentially healed or maybe at least lessen the pain to enable everyone to enjoy last nights wedding.

The only thing I know about the groom is that he's from Japan and met Pamela (the bride) in Johor where he worked on contract with an engineering company. Apparentlly, the groom will be taking Pamela to Japan after his contract finishes which is the end of this month. I do hope they will have a happy life in Japan at least a happier life then what Pamela has had to go through during her childhood. Sayonara!
